FX renewed The Lowdown for a second season in January 2026, and the cameras went back in northeastern Oklahoma. The neo-noir crime drama that earned a 98% Rotten Tomatoes score in its first season – and landed in the top 10 most-streamed television series in the US during its run – is filming its second chapter across Tulsa and the surrounding communities that have become the show's real-world geography.

In August 2026, set photos leaked of Rebecca Ferguson and Greta Lee filming a romantic comedy in London – sharing a kiss on location, clearly the leads of whatever this film turned out to be. Within hours, social media had worked itself into a considerable state. The film was Honeymoon/Funeral. The kiss was at Horse Guards Parade. Filming will continue through October 2026.

The Handmaid's Tale ended in 2025. The Testaments premiered in April 2026. And now Elisabeth Moss comes back on Hulu for a third time – this time as a criminal defense attorney navigating blackmail, murder and moral compromise on the streets of New York. Principal photography ran from June 8 to September 29, 2026, entirely across New York City, under the working title Gordie.

A fisherwoman lives on the fringes of a seaside village – unmarried, stinky, and constantly teased. One day, sick of her narrow-minded neighbours, she orders a wicker husband for herself. That is the premise. Olivia Colman plays the fisherwoman. Alexander Skarsgård plays the wicker husband. And the whole thing was filmed on medieval backlots in Hungary.

Enigma Variations – Netflix's limited series based on André Aciman's 2017 novel, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Alicia Vikander – has been filming since July 2026 under the working title Dolce, moving between southern Italy, Hoboken, Jersey City, Morristown and Manhattan

Ian Charleson played Hamlet at the National Theatre in London in 1988 while dying of AIDS. He was 38. The performance became legendary – described by critics as the finest Hamlet of their generation. He died in January 1990 at the age of 40. Elsinore tells that story. And to tell it, the production filmed in London and Kent.

Netflix's The Hunchback, Soul of Paris – the most expensive French Netflix production ever made at a budget of €30 million – is described as the darkest adaptation of the Quasimodo story ever committed to screen. Filming took place between the end of August and the end of November 2025, across several French cities.

The first teaser debuted at San Diego Comic-Con and local viewers immediately started spotting familiar scenery. The ancient Slavic legend of Baba Yaga – the witch who lives in the forest, who eats the unwary and knows the secrets of the dead – has been transplanted to the streets and shoreline of Victoria, British Columbia.

Season 1 used 85 locations across 93 days to film a Christmas London that nobody had seen before. Season 2 is not set at Christmas. "I think inevitably it's not going to be a Christmas show," creator Joe Barton told TechRadar. "But it'll be interesting to see them out of their winter coats." Filming began in November 2025 in London, with additional location work in Wiltshire and Paris.

Martin Scorsese made Gangs of New York at Cinecittà in Rome. He shot Hugo at Pinewood in London. For his new psychological horror film – a ghost story set in a decaying grand hotel in a snowbound northern European city – he went to Prague, then moved through the Czech countryside and the Swiss Alps, and ended in New York.

Gaumont – the revered French studio behind Lupin – is producing Masterplan with Amazon MGM Studios. The combination is appropriate. Lupin spent four seasons stealing things in Paris. Masterplan is about to steal the most famous painting in the world. The target is the Mona Lisa. The filming locations are Rome, Lake Como, Paris and the French Riviera.
