FX renewed The Lowdown for a second season in January 2026, and the cameras went back in northeastern Oklahoma. The neo-noir crime drama that earned a 98% Rotten Tomatoes score in its first season – and landed in the top 10 most-streamed television series in the US during its run – is filming its second chapter across Tulsa and the surrounding communities that have become the show's real-world geography.
The Lowdown is created and directed by Sterlin Harjo – an Oklahoma native whose previous work includes Reservation Dogs – and stars Ethan Hawke as Lee Raybon, a truth-obsessed bookseller turned citizen journalist in Tulsa who investigates a web of corruption, ambition and buried vendettas. Jeanne Tripplehorn, Tim Blake Nelson and Tracy Letts join the ensemble alongside returning cast members including Keith David, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Kaniehtiio Horn, Rafael Casal, Michael Hitchcock and Macon Blair.
Principal photography began on February 2, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The production qualifies for the Filmed in Oklahoma Act, offering film companies a 20% incentive to film in the state – an act that has generated $531 million in total economic impact statewide.

In late April 2026, Ethan Hawke was spotted filming on 6th Street just east of Peoria Avenue in Tulsa. Crews prepared sets, used local extras and filmed scenes for episode four.
On Wednesday July 8, filming took place in Tulsa's historic Greenwood District from 8am to 7pm, with primary filming at Tee's Barbershop and Sweet Lisa's Soulfood Cafe. Production crews also captured B-roll footage throughout the surrounding area. Business leaders encouraged Greenwood merchants to remain open during filming, saying an active commercial district would help showcase the neighbourhood on screen while providing visitors with an authentic look at the historic community.
The season 2 trailer confirms another specific Tulsa address: a scene between Ethan Hawke and Betty Gilpin was filmed on East 7th Street on the corner with South Boston Avenue in Tulsa. Betty Gilpin plays Ginger – the first major casting announcement for season 2, confirmed by Deadline in early March 2026. The 7th Street and Boston Avenue intersection sits in the heart of Tulsa's historic midtown.

Earlier in the season, filming took place in downtown Claremore – with several areas closed to traffic for the day to accommodate production vehicles. Dot's Café, a local diner, confirmed it was closed because scenes were being filmed inside. In a Facebook post, the diner said: "Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but we're so excited to have Ethan Hawke in our little diner!"
Production filmed along Main Street in Collinsville on May 1 and May 5, with additional shoots planned on Broadway. Collinsville is transformed into the fictitious town of Woodrell, Oklahoma, for the series. City leaders confirmed traffic disruptions during filming. "Hopefully more people will pick us for their on-site locations. We're super excited," said David Trulock, director of Mission on Main Street.
The Lowdown season 2 premieres on FX and Hulu on October 14, 2026.
