MovieWalk Prague Mala Strana Tour Overview

do you have questions?

Everything you need to know about our film tours

Do I need to book in advance?

You don’t need to make a reservation or plan ahead when you go on a MovieWalk. Just pick a walk, download it, and you can start walking right away or whenever you want.

Can I walk it with friends?

Absolutely. You can go for a walk with whoever you want—alone or with friends. Since it’s fun to follow along on your device, it’s best to have multiple devices for larger groups.

Does it work without internet?

Once MovieWalk has been downloaded, the app does not require access to the mobile network. The only requirement is that GPS is enabled; this feature is free to use. However, please note that you will need internet access if you want to use external links.

How long does the walk take?

Our MovieWalks are usually about 3 kilometers long. The duration of the walk depends, of course, on your walking speed and how long you want to stay at each location. But we estimate that it will take about 2 hours.

How long is a MovieWalk valid?

Once you purchase a MovieWalk, you can start it whenever you wish; there’s no time limit. The walk will remain accessible in the app linked to the account you used for the purchase, so even if you switch mobile phones, your MovieWalks will still be available.

BEHIND THE SCENES

Every cobblestone has a scene. Every bridge has a secret.

This self-guided walking tour takes you through the real Prague — the one Hollywood kept returning to. The city that played Vienna, Paris, Moscow, Bangkok and itself — sometimes all in the same film. A city so perfectly preserved that filmmakers had no choice but to come back, again and again.

Start at Matthias Gate at Prague Castle, where Tom Cruise disguised himself as a Russian officer to infiltrate the Kremlin in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. Walk down the Prague Steps, used as 18th-century Paris in Outlander — because Prague's medieval streets looked more authentic than the city they were supposed to represent.

Cross Charles Bridge, where Tom Cruise ran through the night in the original Mission: Impossible, lit by eleven generators and two miles of lights. Where Peter Parker and MJ walked together in Spider-Man: Far From Home, filmed in secret under the codename BOSCO. The bridge costs 8,000 euros a day to film on.

Stand outside St. Nicholas Church, where Hugh Jackman stormed a vampire masquerade ball in Van Helsing — under strict conditions, with the church reconsecrated afterwards. Pass the Lesser Town Bridge Tower, forever linked to the Oscar-winning Amadeus, shot entirely in Prague because director Milos Forman knew his hometown could still pass for Mozart's Vienna.

Walk across Jan Palach Square, where Ryan Gosling survived a spectacular shootout in The Gray Man — including a fountain that was built just for the scene, then blown apart in seconds. It was never real. Neither was the city it pretended to be.

Decades of cinema. One of Europe's most beautiful — and most underrated — film cities.

The MovieWalks Prague Malá Strana tour is a self-guided film location walk through the heart of the city. Mission: Impossible. Amadeus. Spider-Man: Far From Home. The Gray Man. Outlander. Van Helsing. No group, no schedule. Just you, the app, and a city that has been playing a different role in every film it ever appeared in.

Prague on Film. Walk It.
