They shot next to the Louvre – but didn't rob it: Where Masterplan was filmed in France and Italy
Masterplan
Gaumont – the revered French studio behind Lupin – is producing Masterplan with Amazon MGM Studios. The combination is appropriate. Lupin spent four seasons stealing things in Paris. Masterplan is about to steal the most famous painting in the world. The target is the Mona Lisa. The filming locations are Rome, Lake Como, Paris and the French Riviera.
Masterplan is Prime Video's first French-Italian Original film, directed by Thomas Vincent (Reacher, Bodyguard, Versailles) and co-written with David Wolstencroft. Principal photography began on October 13, 2025, across France and Italy. The film premieres exclusively on Prime Video on October 16, 2026, in more than 240 countries and territories.
Stanley Tucci plays Roger, a legendary thief who recruits two young strangers to help him steal the Mona Lisa from the Louvre – before revealing that they are long-lost siblings and that he is their father. Simona Tabasco (The White Lotus season 2) plays Chiara, a sharp Italian cybercrime expert. Victor Belmondo plays Jay, a swaggering French explosives specialist.
The trailer confirms filming along the Louvre Colonnade – the east facade of the Louvre Palace, the Colonnade de Perrault, situated along the Place du Louvre in the 1st arrondissement. A scene was filmed along Rue de l'Amiral de Coligny, which runs alongside the Colonnade. In the trailer, Chiara – Simona Tabasco – stands in front of the stained glass window of Église Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois, looking directly at the Colonnade de Perrault across the street.
Scenes were also shot around the Louvre Pyramid – I.M. Pei's iconic glass-and-steel structure in the Cour Napoléon that has become the museum's most photographed entrance since 1989.
On the Pont des Arts – the pedestrian bridge crossing the Seine between the Louvre and the Institut de France – the production filmed with the Louvre visible in the background.

The trailer's establishing shot of Rome is unambiguous: the Monumento a Vittorio Emanuele II – the colossal white marble structure on Piazza Venezia, visible from virtually every point in the city centre – and the adjacent Piazza del Campidoglio, Michelangelo's trapezoidal square on the Capitoline Hill above the Roman Forum.
The production also filmed at Villa Bonomi – an exclusive luxury estate above Lake Como. The property's multi-storey classic white facade, its arched glass doors and its manicured lawn framed by large trees give it the kind of high-end private world that a legendary thief's social network would naturally include.
The French Riviera completes the location arc – but we can not confirm specific filming locations yet.
Masterplan premieres on Prime Video on October 16, 2026.
