From the Surf Motel to Willows Beach: Where Yaga was filmed in Victoria

The first teaser debuted at San Diego Comic-Con and local viewers immediately started spotting familiar scenery. The ancient Slavic legend of Baba Yaga – the witch who lives in the forest, who eats the unwary and knows the secrets of the dead – has been transplanted to the streets and shoreline of Victoria, British Columbia.
Yaga is an eight-episode supernatural horror mystery series created and showrun by Kat Sandler, adapted from her 2019 award-winning stage play. The production filmed under the working title Wing Night.
The series follows private investigator Napp (Noah Reid), who arrives in a small coastal town to investigate the disappearance of Henry Park (Hudson Williams), a young heir to a powerful fishery. He finds himself at odds with local detective Carson (Clark Backo) and charismatic university professor Katherine (Carrie-Anne Moss) – and at the centre of a labyrinth of enigmatic suspects, secret lives and ancient magic.
Filming began in February 2026 in and around Victoria, with principal location work concentrated in the late February and early March window. Downtown sightings were reported near the Vancouver and Johnson Street areas. Pemberton Street – the residential road in the Fairfield neighbourhood – was used for scenes in late February and early March 2026.
The Surf Motel on Dallas Road in Victoria appears in the trailer – the mid-century motel on the Inner Harbour causeway road, its neon sign and period character giving it exactly the slightly unsettling roadside atmosphere that a supernatural mystery thriller requires.
The Market on Yates also features among the confirmed Victoria location sightings – the city's popular community food market on Yates Street.

Yaga premieres October 23 on Crave in Canada and AMC+ in the United States.
