The original Cliffhanger was filmed in the Dolomites – the real ones, in Italy, with Sylvester Stallone hanging from genuine Alpine ridgelines in 1992. The reboot is set in the Dolomites. This time Lily James is doing all the heavy climbing. The cameras went to Bavaria and the Austrian Alps.

The untitled Ocean's Eleven prequel – written and directed by Bradley Cooper, who also stars alongside Margot Robbie – was filming in Paris and Monaco in August 2026, with a theatrical release scheduled for June 25, 2027. Five years. That is how long Extraction 3 has been trying to film in Australia. The original plan for Extraction 2 was a Sydney shoot starting September 2021. COVID-19 lockdowns ended that plan entirely, sending the production to Prague and Vienna instead. Now, with principal photography confirmed underway from July 23, 2026, Chris Hemsworth is finally filming a Tyler Rake film in his home country.

Kate Wyler is back. And she has been to Tuscany, to a Lincolnshire country house, and to one of London's most secretive grand interiors. Principal photography began in early November 2025 and wrapped on June 5, 2026 – seven months across London, New York City and Tuscany, with English country houses adding a further visual chapter.

Hercule Poirot is coming back. Hercule – a six-part BBC One and BritBox drama from Mammoth Screen and Agatha Christie Productions – has commenced filming in Liverpool, with Edward Bluemel taking on one of the most scrutinised roles in British television as a young Poirot navigating his earliest cases. It has been a long road to production. Francis Ford Coppola has been trying to get The Glimpses of the Moon before cameras for the better part of two years. London was announced. Calabria was announced. December 2025 came and went without a single frame shot. And now, as of late August 2026, it is finally, apparently, happening – in the region of southern Italy where Coppola's own family comes from.

After 23 years of NCIS franchises set in Washington DC, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Hawaii and Sydney, CBS has finally come to the city that should have been there from the beginning. Production has been actively filming on location across New York City since July 2026 – primarily in Brooklyn, with additional work at Central Park and the Queensboro Bridge.

The Palace of Westminster is not easy to film in. Its security protocols, its active parliamentary function and the sheer logistical complexity of taking a camera crew into one of Britain's most tightly controlled buildings make it an almost impossible location for a fiction series – even one set almost entirely within its walls. When Bad Wolf and Netflix needed the Palace of Westminster for The Lords' Day, they went to Bristol first. And then, in August, they got the real thing.

A lone pilot named Hig lives in an airport hangar with his dog and a dour survivalist named Bangley, until a mysterious radio signal pulls him back into the world. For Ridley Scott, building that desolate Colorado landscape meant going to Friuli, Veneto, Abruzzo and Rome – nine weeks across Italy.

Gin Joint is an upcoming Apple TV+ thriller series created by Alex Cary – showrunner of Homeland – currently in production in New York City.
