Catherine Zeta-Jones came home to Swansea – and past the Guggenheim in Bilbao: The filming locations of Kill Jackie

Kill Jackie

Filming began in March 2025 across four countries. Bilbao and the Basque Country, Lisbon, London and Swansea were the four locations – the last of which carries particular personal weight. "The most poignant moment for me was walking down the streets of Swansea, not just as Jackie, but as me," Catherine Zeta-Jones told Wales Online. "Going home to a place that I love, doing what I love to do. That was very, very special."

Kill Jackie is an eight-part Prime Video action thriller adapted from Nick Harkaway's novel The Price You Pay. Lead director Damon Thomas (Killing Eve), Dawn Shadforth (I Hate Suzie) directing block two, Tom Butterworth as writer and showrunner.

Zeta-Jones plays Jackie Price – a former international cocaine dealer who has spent 20 years traveling the world to stay anonymous. When The Seven Demons, a squad of the world's most terrifying hitmen, are hired to kill her, her carefully constructed life unravels. Daniel Ings plays lawyer Sam. The series also stars Marwan Kenzari and Alba Galocha.

Principal photography ran approximately 20 weeks from March to August 2025.

A majority of the pivotal sequences were filmed across Bilbao and the wider Basque Country, with filming beginning alongside the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao in March 2025. One of the show's most striking images features a drone shot coming off the bridge to reveal Zeta-Jones in a cocktail dress walking past Frank Gehry's titanium masterpiece.

Filming extended across Bilbao's most distinctive locations. The Zubizuri – also called the Campo Volantín footbridge, Santiago Calatrava's white arch bridge crossing the Nervión – features in the series. The Albia Gardens in the Abando district provided a historic green public square environment. The production also filmed around the Colegio de Ingenieros building and the Pedro Arrupe footbridge near the University of Deusto. Scenes were shot at the area near the Solokoetxe elevators overlooking the rooftops of the Casco Viejo – the Old Town – from above.

The ornate Palacio de la Diputación Foral de Bizkaia on Bilbao's Gran Vía was transformed for the series into an exclusive London hotel.

A handful of restaurants in the region were also used for filming, including Restaurante La Revelía in Amorebieta and, in Bilbao, Restaurante Farketa 56 and David García's Lasai.

The Basque coast

Filming spread beyond central Bilbao to the coastal municipality of Getxo. The Punta Begoña Galleries appear in the series, while the area's cruise terminal was transformed into a fictional airport environment for an explosion scene. The Palacio Lezama-Leguizamón in Algorta also hosted production.

San Juan de Gaztelugatxe – the dramatic rocky islet on the rugged Bay of Biscay coast, its hermitage reached by a stone stairway carved into the cliff – is confirmed as a filming location. It is one of the Basque Country's most visually extraordinary sites: a single path winding up to a church at the top of a volcanic rock above crashing Atlantic water.

Filming took place at the rooftop infinity pool overlooking La Concha Bay at the Nobu Hotel San Sebastián. and at the semi-desert natural park of Bardenas Reales contributed remote, lunar landscape sequences.

Lisbon, Swansea and London

Lisbon is listed as a filming destination, though specific locations remain unconfirmed.Swansea, Wales, is a confirmed filming location. In the series, Catherine Zeta-Jones returns to her hometown to film for the first time—not just in Swansea, but anywhere in Wales. The camera sweeps across Swansea Bay, the seafront, Mumbles Pier, and its latest landmark, the big wheel. Additional scenes were shot at North Road Service Station, Pant Street in Port Tennant, and Monkstone Cruising & Sailing Club.

The production team took over multiple spots across London, including Surrey Street, Queen Alexandra's House on Kensington Gore (adjacent to the Royal Albert Hall), The Landmark London at 222 Marylebone Road, and King's College London on the Strand Campus. A scene was also filmed on Westminster Bridge – one of the most immediately recognisable stretches of road in Britain, its Gothic Revival balustrades spanning the Thames with the Big Ben visible in the background
