The weekend of September 12 and 13, 2026 turned central London into Gotham City – St Paul's dressed as a courthouse. Freemasons' Hall as a secret society's meeting place. A sign reading "Court of Fowls." Matt Reeves may not have confirmed the Court of Owls. London, this weekend, effectively did it for him. Or it was one hell of an Easter Egg.
Eagle-eyed fans gathered around St Paul's Cathedral as the production transformed the 17th-century Wren masterpiece into a scene of public protest and judicial drama. From video footage shared online, St Paul's was dressed as the Gotham Bar Association – a governmental courthouse setting where crowds of extras gathered with placards bearing slogans including "One Day the Poor Will Have Nothing" and "The Rich Are Getting Richer." But the most significant detail was a sign reading "Court of Fowls" – potentially confirming that the villainous Court of Owls will appear in The Batman Part II. If it is not a plot confirmation, it is, as one fan publication noted, "one hell of an Easter Egg."
Bruce Wayne's custom 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray was also spotted on set – a vehicle choice suggesting the sequel will give the billionaire more visible public presence than the first film.
St Paul's Cathedral – Christopher Wren's Baroque masterpiece on Ludgate Hill, its dome one of the most recognisable silhouettes in London – was dressed as the Gotham Bar Association for the weekend shoot. The connection to Harvey Dent is pointed: the Bar Association is the professional body for lawyers, and Dent – Gotham's district attorney – would be its most prominent member. Sebastian Stan is confirmed as Harvey Dent. Brian Tyree Henry is confirmed in an undisclosed role. Whether either or both appear in the St Paul's sequences has not been confirmed.
The "Court of Fowls" sign and the courthouse setting align with the Court of Owls origin story. In the comics, the Court of Owls is a secret society of Gotham City's wealthiest and most influential citizens, operating in shadow since the city's founding.

Cameras were also rolling at Freemasons' Hall on Great Queen Street in Covent Garden – the Art Deco masterpiece built between 1927 and 1933 as a memorial to Freemasons who died in the First World War. Its vast ceremonial rooms, marble columns and elaborately decorated temple halls – including the Grand Temple, whose ceiling and walls are covered in symbolic Masonic decoration – could provide exactly the kind of secret society interior that a Court of Owls scene demands.
Freemasons' Hall appeared in Only Murders in the Building season 6 earlier in the same production year, standing in for the Crown Court of Central London. In The Batman Part II, it apparently serves a darker institutional purpose.
The Batman: Part II began principal photography on June 12, 2026 – following years of delays attributed to the lengthy script process, the 2023 Hollywood strikes and Reeves's personal circumstances. Filming is primarily taking place on soundstages at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, with location shooting in England and Scotland.
