Young Sherlock
Season 2 of the Young Sherlock series started in late May 2026. Since then camera's are running thoughout Palermo and the United Kingdom. FIlming expected to continue through the end of the year, with a late 2027 or early 2028 premiere on Prime Video the most realistic expectation.
Season 1 barely had time to finish streaming before the cameras started rolling on season 2. Following Young Sherlock's record-breaking launch on Prime Video on March 4, 2026 — all eight episodes simultaneously, more than 240 countries — showrunner and creator Matthew Parkhill confirmed that production on season 2 had officially begun.
The cast is being significantly reconfigured. Olivia Williams, Indira Varma, Sophie Skelton and Aidan Gillen join the ensemble in new roles. Colin Firth and Joseph Fiennes do not return.
Sicily
For four weeks in the late spring of 2026, Palermo became Constantinople. The streets of Sicily's ancient, layered capital were dressed as the Ottoman capital of the 19th century, with costumed extras, period market stalls and a young Sherlock Holmes in a dark bowler hat working his way through the crowd.
Filming for Young Sherlock season 2 took place in Palermo from May 17 to June 13, 2026 — four weeks in which the city stood in for 19th-century Constantinople.

Cheltenham
Late July the Promenade in Cheltenham was preped for filming on August 3 and August 4. The production filmed outside the Municipal Offices across the War Memorial.
Season 2 of Young Sherlock is expected to premiere in late 2027 or early 2028 on Prime Video.
