Where was Victorian Psycho filmed? How Dunsany Castle became the most dangerous manor in Ireland

Victorian Psycho is set in 1858 in Victorian England. An eccentric young governess named Winifred Notty arrives at the remote gothic manor of Ensor House. Staff begin to disappear. The owners begin to wonder. Despite being set in Victorian England, almost the entire film was brought to life in Ireland, using one remarkable historic castle as its primary filming location.
Victorian Psycho — directed by Zachary Wigon (Sanctuary), written by Virginia Feito from her own novel, and starring Monroe alongside Thomasin McKenzie, Ruth Wilson and Jason Isaacs — premiered in the Un Certain Regard section of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival on May 21. It opens theatrically in the United States on September 25, 2026, distributed by Bleecker Street.
Dunsany Castle, County Meath
The heart of the production was an historic castle in County Meath, Ireland, which served as the fictional Ensor House.
Dunsany Castle is one of the oldest continuously inhabited castles in Ireland. Located near the village of Dunsany in County Meath — about 40 kilometres north of Dublin — it has been the home of the Plunkett family since the 15th century.

Most of the production centred on Dunsany Castle, where both interior and exterior scenes for Ensor House were captured. The castle's parkland, its walled approaches and its interior rooms — drawing rooms, corridors, staircases — where used for filming across autumn 2025.
Director Zachary Wigon spent time in the castle before filming began, using the location to shape the film's visual approach.
Victorian Psycho opens September 25, 2026.
