Where Was Frisco King Filmed? From SMU Boulevard and Frisco to the Streets of Southlake

Taylor Sheridan is from Fort Worth. He knows these streets. And when it came time to build the world of Frisco King — the Tulsa King spinoff in which Samuel L. Jackson plays Russell Lee Washington Jr., a former hitman building a criminal empire in North Texas — Sheridan brought the cameras home.
Principal photography began in late March 2026 in North Texas and wrapped in late July 2026. The show was originally titled NOLA King and intended to film in New Orleans, before a complete creative overhaul renamed it, relocated it to Frisco, Texas, and shifted the production base to North Texas to utilise Sheridan's existing production campus there. Sheridan wrote all eight episodes himself.
Although the show is set in the booming Dallas suburb of Frisco, primary production took place across the broader Dallas–Fort Worth area — with crews spotted in Fort Worth, Southlake, Grapevine, Keller, Frisco itself and University Park.
Fort Worth and Frisco
Stretches of 4th Street and Main Street in downtown Fort Worth were closed on consecutive days for filming, with 4th Street shut from Commerce Street to Houston Street and Main Street from 505 Main Street down to 4th Street. The closures ran from 6am to 11pm on the first day and from 7am Friday through to 4am Saturday. D
Production crews filmed from May 11 through May 13 near Players Circle on the west side of Southlake, with traffic along FM 1709 pausing intermittently during filming. The production also shut down Fountain Place and State Street within Southlake Town Square — the upscale mixed-use development at the heart of one of the wealthiest communities in Texas — for additional filming days. Previous shoots also took place at Keller Sports Park and the Tarrant County Courthouse.

The Star en SMU Boulevard
In May 2026, the production filmed for several nights at The Star in Frisco — the Dallas Cowboys' 91-acre world headquarters and training facility, home to the Ford Center and a large mixed-use entertainment district.
On July 12, 2026 — just weeks before the wrap — the production moved to University Park, filming on SMU Boulevard on the portion where Southern Methodist University's fraternity houses are located. The street from Airline Road to Bush Avenue was closed to traffic.

Samuel L. Jackson was spotted at the Omni Frisco Hotel — a luxury resort adjacent to The Star. Whether the property was used purely as cast accommodation or also features as a filming location will become clear when the series premieres.
Grapevine and Keller both hosted production crews during the shoot, adding to the show's North Texas range. The extras casting confirmed it: the production sought baseball fans, warehouse workers, gas-station pedestrians, sheriff's deputies and cheerleaders.
No premiere date has been announced for Frisco King on Paramount+.
