Where was Brothers filmed? Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson took over Austin

It was impossible to miss. Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson cruising through Austin in a Ford F-150, wearing matching blue cowboy suits, being pulled over by Austin police on West Riverside Drive. The cameras were rolling. Throughout 2025, the duo turned Austin into their set — drawing social media attention from Auditorium Shores to Congress Avenue, popping up at local landmarks and flooding the city's streets with production trucks.
Brothers — the eight-episode Apple TV+ comedy loosely inspired by McConaughey and Harrelson's decades-long friendship — premieres September 23, 2026. The show presents fictionalised versions of the two men navigating life together on McConaughey's Texas ranch.
West Riverside Drive and South Congress Avenue
The most publicly documented filming moment came on West Riverside Drive, where McConaughey and Harrelson were filmed riding in a Ford F-150 and being pulled over by Austin police officers — both in their matching blue cowboy suits, Lady Bird Lake on one side and the Austin skyline on the other.
Production filmed on Congress Avenue and South Congress in May 2025, with cameras rolling on the stretch between 700 and 900 Congress Avenue. On Saturday November 8, 2025, McConaughey was spotted filming at Home Slice Pizza on South Congress Avenue.
McConaughey and Harrelson were also spotted filming outside Billy Reid — the men's clothing store on South Congress — in November 2024 though it should be noted that this turned out to be a Salesforce commercial shoot rather than Brothers footage.

Radio Coffee & Beer and Juan in a Million
From May 5 to 8, 2025, Radio Coffee & Beer at 4204 Menchaca Road temporarily closed for filming. The beloved Austin institution — its sprawling outdoor patio, its converted house setting, its regulars and regulars' dogs — was dressed for the show and closed to the public for four days.
During the summer of 2025, production crews filmed at Juan in a Million — the iconic East Austin establishment at 2300 E Cesar Chavez Street, known for its breakfast tacos and 24-hour diner culture. Windows were blacked out with see-through film to simulate a late-night setting, with cast and crew spotted waiting out front between setups. A local witness described seeing the production in full swing, the blacked-out windows concealing whatever scene was being built inside.
Auditorium Shores and the Texas Ranch
The production was also spotted at Auditorium Shores on Lady Bird Lake — a 48-acre urban park in Austin. Beyond Austin's city limits, filming extended to Dripping Springs in the Texas Hill Country and to a working Texas ranch — the physical heart of the show's premise, where both families attempt to coexist on McConaughey's land.
Brothers premieres on Apple TV+ on September 23, 2026.
