Where The Rapture was filmed in south Wales
The Rapture
The Rapture was shot exclusively in Wales, supported by Creative Wales, with cast members working across Porthcawl, Port Talbot, Swansea, Pontyclun, Penarth and Margam. Based on Liz Jensen's bestselling 2009 novel, the five-part thriller follows psychologist Dr Gabs Fox, assigned to treat the most dangerous teenager in the country — a girl who claims to foresee catastrophes.
The cast and crew spent the summer of 2025 filming across south Wales during a genuine heatwave. "It almost made the story make more sense," said Ruth Madeley, who plays Dr Gabs Fox. The heatwave was not planned. But for a series about climate dread and the end of things as we know them, it was exactly right.

Hayes Point, Port Talbot, Aberavon Beach and Swansea Guildhall
The Oxsmith Psychiatric Hospital was filmed at Hayes Point in Sully, at an apartment building in the former Sully Hospital. In episode 2, Gabs and Dick meet for breakfast at Franco's, a fish and chip restaurant on the Aberavon Beach seafront in Port Talbot, known for its seaside views over Swansea Bay. Port Talbot — the South Wales steelworks town whose industrial skyline sits incongruously against a wide sandy beach — gives the series its most distinctively Welsh visual identity.
The scene when Gabs and Frasier attend a function was filmed at Swansea Guildhall — a location also used for the 2025 Netflix film Havoc. The meeting between Gabs and Sam Duval takes place at Swansea's Kardomah Café, a popular location for film and television productions. The scene in which Gabs attends an event for energy company Trenmoore was filmed at Maesteg Town Hall in the Llynfi Valley.

Margam Park, Cardiff, Penarth and Porthcrawl
Margam Park — a country estate with 850 acres of land — is one of the series' most striking locations. Its Abbey ruins, founded in 1147 and now a roofless ruin standing within the parkland, tie the religious undertones of the show to the surrounding landscape.
Cast and crew based themselves in Cardiff in August 2025, with the city's university buildings and Cardiff Castle expected to feature. Penarth — the Victorian seaside town just south of Cardiff, with its pier and esplanade — and Porthcawl on the Glamorgan Heritage Coast both contributed to the series' visual world. The scene in which Gabs visits a bar with Frasier was filmed on Porthcawl's Eastern Promenade. Gabs's swimming scenes were filmed at the National Lido in Pontypridd.
The Rapture premieres on BBC One on July 26, 2026.
