The real-life locations in My Oxford Year

My Oxford Year

In My Oxford Year, the city of Oxford isn't just a backdrop—it’s a leading character in its own right. This Netflix romance, starring Sofia Carson and Corey Mylchreest, was filmed across some of Oxford’s most iconic sites.

Firstly, the University of Oxford itself—especially Magdalen College—forms the heart of the film’s academic world. Its gothic tower, serene cloisters, and lush lawns provide a stunning setting for Anna’s daily life at Oxford.

Some scenes were shot within the legendary Bodleian Library, including the atmospheric Duke Humfrey’s Reading Room. It’s here where poetic romance takes flight, sparking a pivotal moment between them. Then there’s Radcliffe Square, with its medieval cobbled stones and the imposing Radcliffe Camera. Here, a late-night kebab rendezvous blooms under streetlights.

And while the heart of the film remains in Oxford, a few scenes venture to spectacular estates in Hertfordshire, including Knebworth House and Hatfield House, perfect for framing the film’s more grandiose celebrations and romantic crescendos.

Filming took place in September 2024, with crews capturing the city’s beauty shortly before term time—resulting in picturesque scenes and even casual encounters with students by local kebab vans.
