The café on the hill is real: Here's where Netflix's Musafir Cafe was filmed

Musafir Cafe

Since Musafir Cafe premiered on Netflix on July 24, 2026, one question has been searched more than any other: where is the café? Is it real? Can I go there? The answer, as it turns out, is yes. And you can stay there.

The Netflix romantic drama — adapted from Divya Prakash Dubey's bestselling novel and starring Vikrant Massey, Vedika Pinto and Mahima Makwana — moves between two distinct Indian landscapes: the bustling city streets of Bhopal, capital of Madhya Pradesh, and the misty hill station of Mussoorie in Uttarakhand.

The café that gives the series its name was built and filmed at Jharipani Castle on Jharipani Road, opp. SBI Near Oak Grove School in Jharipani, Mussoorie (India).

Jharipani Castle is a historic property built by the British in 1932 as a guest house for travelling officers. Post-Independence, ownership passed to the Maharaja of Patiala. Since 2003, the Bahri family has owned and restored it as a cosy premium homestay of just seven rooms, with an all-day diner, bonfire, library, children's activity zone and jacuzzi — all with a breathtaking view of the Doon Valley.

The Mussoorie schedule was filmed at Jharipani Castle in November 2025, during the winter line season. The cast and crew stayed on-site throughout. The production used the gardens, the terraces, the guest rooms and the café spaces. Filming included both day and night scenes across the property, with every corner of the estate that viewers see on screen available to visit and stay in today.

The property is approximately seven kilometres from Mussoorie's famous Mall Road, near Jharipani Falls, with Dehradun about 25 kilometres further down the valley.

Bhopal

The opening chapters of Musafir Cafe were filmed scenes across Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh. The city provides a perfect contrast between tradition and modern life, reflecting the complicated relationship between Chander and Sudha as they navigate family expectations, career ambitions and personal choices.

Upper Lake — also known as Bada Talaab, one of Bhopal's most iconic landmarks — provides several picturesque moments throughout the early episodes.

Musafir Cafe is streaming now on Netflix.
