From a circuit in Sussex to an island near Napels: Here's where The Thomas Crown Affair was filmed
The Thomas Crown Affair
The trailer gives it away. From a speedboat cutting through the water off Ischia's Aragonese Castle to a race sequence at Goodwood, and a visit to the Royal Palace of Caserta. The Thomas Crown Affair — Michael B. Jordan's thirteen-years-in-the-making reimagination of the classic heist story, opening March 5, 2027 — filmed across London, West Sussex, the Amalfi Coast, Ischia and the Royal Palace of Caserta. This is the full location story.
When cameras finally rolled in July 2025, Michael B. Jordan was in London — directing, producing and starring in his reimagination of one of cinema's great heist stories. He stayed for almost a year.
"I didn't want a reboot. I wanted a reimagination," Jordan told Variety in November. "The first two films were about rich white guys stealing for fun. That doesn't land today. Ours is more personal."

United Kingdom
In August 2025, London's CSM building on Granary Square in King's Cross was transformed into the headquarters of Crown Industries, with signage, vehicles and production equipment filling the square around it.
Along the river, the production filmed on location along the Albert Embankment on the South Bank of the Thames — the riverside stretch between Vauxhall and Lambeth Bridges, with Millbank and the Palace of Westminster visible across the water.
Jordan told the CinemaCon audience in April 2025 that he was working in London — and confirmed to Vanity Fair that filming wrapped in November.
The trailer confirms it: the Goodwood Motor Circuit in West Sussex was used for a race sequences. Goodwood — home of the Revival and Festival of Speed, one of the most prestigious motor racing venues in Britain — provided the film's high-speed, high-stakes racing chapter.

Italy
On April 18, 2026, the production filmed at the Fiordo di Furore on the Amalfi Coast — the dramatic sea gorge between Positano and Amalfi, its sheer rock walls descending to a small beach and a narrow sea inlet. The beach area and surrounding strand were temporarily closed to the public during filming. The Fiordo di Furore is one of the most visually spectacular and least accessible points on a coastline defined by spectacle. The production came down by boat.
Ischia followed. A speedboat sequence was filmed on the sea near Ischia on October 12, 2025, in the waters around Castel Aragonese — the 15th-century fortress rising from its own islet connected to the island by a narrow stone bridge. The production set up around the local marina and in Casamicciola Terme, where the evocative Villa Barkley hosted key interior sequences. After Casamicciola, the crew moved to Ischia Ponte, where the ancient village overlooking the Aragonese Castle was transformed into a secured film set for two days. Among the alleys of Ischia Ponte, some of the film's most important scenes were shot. Ischia has earned its reputation on screen: from Cleopatra to The Talented Mr. Ripley to Men in Black III.
The Italian chapter concluded at the Royal Palace of Caserta — the 18th-century Bourbon royal residence near Naples, one of the largest palaces in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its ceremonial staircases, grand apartments and formal gardens have appeared in everything from the Star Wars prequels to Mission: Impossible.
The 1968 original was set in Boston. The 1999 remake relocated to New York. Jordan's version moves to Europe.
The Thomas Crown Affair opens in IMAX and cinemas globally on March 5, 2027.
