Dallas Is set in New Jersey and the Meatpacking District: Here's where Paramount+'s Discretion was filmed

The story is set in Dallas. The cameras are in New Jersey and New York. Scenes for Discretion – the upcoming Paramount+ legal thriller starring Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning, filming under the working title The Summers – have been spotted across Morris County, New Jersey and Manhattan's Meatpacking District, with the production moving steadily through the northeastern United States since August 10, 2026.
Discretion is produced by A24 for Paramount+, based on a short story by Chandler Baker – a New York Times bestselling author who also worked as a corporate attorney and is drawing on firsthand experience. Baker writes and executive produces alongside Susannah Grant (Erin Brockovich, Unbelievable). Matt Shakman directs the first four episodes. The cast includes Nicole Kidman, Elle Fanning, Josh Lucas, Stephan James and Colton Ryan. Principal photography runs from August 10 through December 18, 2026.
The logline: summer associate Lenny (Fanning) at a prestigious Dallas law firm uncovers a web of NDAs masking a dark truth. When she realises she signed the same agreement, her discoveries put her in the crosshairs of the firm's most powerful female partner Sharon (Kidman) – upending their mentor–protégé dynamic and raising the question: who gets to keep secrets, and at what cost?
The Discretion crew spent about a week filming at Harrison Avenue Tavern in West Orange in August, according to an Instagram post from the Downtown West Orange Alliance.
On August 21, Fanning and director Matt Shakman filmed on East Front Street in downtown Plainfield. In the scene, Fanning appeared to be singing while driving the light-blue Toyota Corolla – her character not paying attention as a traffic light turned red, causing her to stop short to avoid hitting the car ahead. A stunt driver joined Fanning for the sequence. All cars on set were fitted with Texas licence plates. Later the same day, the production moved to the West End of the city, where an interior scene was filmed in an apartment on West Seventh Street.
On September 15, scenes were shot inside and outside Forum Coffee at 1 Waverly Place, Madison – where Waverly Place meets Main Street in downtown Madison. Crew members were photographed rigging a large light stand beside the café's front door, with a white diffusion frame blocking part of the sidewalk.

The following day, the production moved to Manhattan – filming around West 14th Street in the Meatpacking District.
On September 18, Elle Fanning was spotted on set outside the Presbyterian Church on Morristown Green – just hours after local reports confirmed the production had taken over the historic town square. The Presbyterian Church is located at 57 East Park Place, Morristown. Production crews and equipment filled the surrounding area.
The eight-episode series runs through December 18, 2026 – three more months of New York and New Jersey filming under the working title The Summers. Specific locations will continue to emerge as the production moves through the winter.
Discretion is expected to premiere on Paramount+ in 2027.
