Red swimsuits are back on Venice Beach: Where Fox's Baywatch reboot was filmed

Venice Beach is the primary filming location for the reboot, with production beginning at the Historic Venice Lifeguard Operations Station on March 16. The original red-painted building on the Venice beachfront – the operational base for Los Angeles County lifeguards for decades – is a central backdrop for the series. The full cast was spotted filming on Venice Beach in March 2026, with Livvy Dunne posting behind-the-scenes Instagram photographs from the sand and Backgrid photographers capturing the production at work.

The Venice Lifeguard Operations Station is a historically significant location – the original red-painted building on the beachfront that has served as the operational base for Los Angeles County lifeguards for decades.

Shortly after the Venice Beach shoot began, filming moved to Redondo Beach – the Los Angeles County beach community on Santa Monica Bay south of Manhattan Beach – for additional beach sequences.

On April 15, 2026, production crews moved north to Santa Monica Beach, filming just north of the Santa Monica Pier at tower 6. The tower 6 area sits on one of the most recognisable stretches of Santa Monica coastline.

Before principal photography began, a February 2026 casting call at the beach in Marina Del Rey drew crowds of hopefuls auditioning for background roles. It was the first public indication that production was approaching.

The production is headquartered at Fox's studios in Century City, where interior scenes, controlled-environment work and technical sequences are filmed alongside the beach location work.

It would be fun if Will Rogers State Beach on Santa Monica Bay – the primary filming site for the original series across its first nine seasons – also features in this series. But we have no confirmation about that yet.

Baywatch premieres on Fox in January 2027.
