Where The Last Sunrise was filmed: Eva Longoria and Maia Reficco spent the summer in Mallorca

The Last Sunrise

A young woman with a chronic illness escapes to Mallorca for the summer with her overprotective mother — and in the light and warmth of a Mediterranean island, discovers that the life she has been living is not the only one available to her.  Amazon MGM Studios decided to film The Last Sunrise in the actual Balearic Islands rather than a Spanish backlot dressed to approximate them.

Production officially kicked off in June 2025, forAmazon MGM's adaptation of Anna Todd's bestselling romance novel in beautiful Mallorca, Spain. The film is directed by Carlson Young — whose previous credits include Trust, Upgraded and The Blazing World — with a screenplay by Anna Klassen.

It stars Maia Reficco as Ry, a college student with a chronic illness whose transformative summer in Mallorca leads her to fall unexpectedly for Julián, a charming local played by Fernando Lindez. Eva Longoria plays her fiercely protective mother Isolde. Sabrina Bartlett, Chloé Sweetlove and Andrés Velencoso complete the cast

La Fortaleza, Pollença

The most spectacular confirmed filming location is La Fortaleza — also known as Sa Fortalesa — in Pollença, on the northeastern tip of Mallorca. Built in 1628 to defend against pirate attacks, the fortress sits on a dramatic coastal headland overlooking Pollença Bay and the Cap de Formentor peninsula, its stone walls rising directly from the sea. Over the centuries it was transformed from a military installation into a luxurious private residence — one of the most exclusive properties in the Mediterranean, its combination of 17th-century military architecture and extraordinary natural setting making it a globally sought-after filming location and event venue.

La Fortaleza appeared in The Night Manager as Roper's Mallorca compound — one of the series' most visually striking locations. The Last Sunrise returns to the same property, this time as the film's luxurious hotel setting.

Palma and Valldemossa

The production filmed around Palma's Gothic cathedral — the Catedral-Basilica de Santa Maria de Mallorca, known locally as La Seu — whose honey-gold facade and flying buttresses rise directly from the bay's edge, one of the most dramatically sited cathedrals in Europe.

Images from the trailer confirm a further location: Valldemossa — the historic mountain village in the Serra de Tramuntana range, its stone streets, terracotta rooftops and famous Carthusian Monastery sitting at around 400 metres above sea level, the mountains dropping steeply toward the sea below. Valldemossa is one of the most visited villages in Mallorca, its Cartuja — the Royal Carthusian Monastery founded in 1399, where Frédéric Chopin and George Sand famously spent a winter in 1838 — giving it a cultural resonance beyond its visual beauty.

Mallorca

Beyond these locations, the production used Mallorca's full geographic range across the summer shoot — from the rugged northern coastline and the old stone villages of the interior to the cosmopolitan energy of Palma and the quieter coves where Ry and Julián's relationship develops.

The Last Sunrise premieres on Prime Video on August 26, 2026.
