The most revealing detail from the Sydney shoot came in a set of exclusive behind-the-scenes photographs published by What's on Netflix on May 15, showing Sydney's inner-city suburbs meticulously transformed into the streets of London. A prop street sign clearly places a scene in the "London Borough of Islington" on the fictional "Crossgrove Place N1" — complete with classic brickwork, wrought-iron fencing, and period-appropriate street furniture.

On July 10, 2026, the production arrived in Penang — a move that was not publicly announced but immediately spotted by locals and shared across social media within hours. Hype Malaysia confirmed that both Wahlberg and Riz Ahmed were present and active on set in George Town, on July 11. 

Penang Island City Council mayor Datuk A. Rajendran confirmed the production would film in the state for approximately two weeks. The specific confirmed locations are: Jawi Peranakan Mansion — where production began on July 10; the Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion, known as the Blue Mansion, where cameras moved later that same day with a full crew and barricaded set visible; Lorong Kulit — the famous flea market street in George Town; City Stadium; Batu Kawan Stadium; and Macallum Field.

Wahlberg was filmed stepping from a vehicle onto a George Town street, walking through a bazaar, waving to onlookers, and visiting a local Indian Muslim food stall — where locals noted he seemed entirely at ease.

Penang was apparently not the only international stop. Malaysia is described as "among several countries selected for additional filming locations" beyond Sydney. Whether other Asian cities feature in the finished film has not been confirmed.

The Big Fix is scheduled to arrive on Netflix in mid-to-late 2027.
