Sydney Sweeney at Wellcamp Airport: The real Queensland filming locations of Gundam

It wrapped with a party in mid-July 2026. Cast and crew photographs appeared on Instagram within hours. After roughly four months of filming, the live-action Gundam movie has officially wrapped production in Queensland, Australia. Working title: Teardrop.
Principal photography began on April 20, 2026. The production employed more than 350 local cast and crew members and contributed an estimated $110 million to Queensland's economy.

Village Roadshow Studios
The production was based out of Village Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast — the nine-soundstage complex in Oxenford that has been Queensland's premier film facility since 1991. Its track record reads like a blockbuster hall of fame: Godzilla vs. Kong, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, Elvis, Ticket to Paradise, Aquaman, Thor: Ragnarok, Mortal Kombat.

Brisbane
Shooting also took place in Brisbane. Queensland's capital city provides locations for the movie but no locations has confirmed yet.
Toowoomba
On May 8, 2026, Sydney Sweeney was spotted filming at Wellcamp Airport — the privately owned regional airport west of Toowoomba on the Darling Downs, opened in 2014 as Australia's first greenfield public airport in nearly 50 years.
