Portland, Warrnambool and the Yarra Valley: The Victorian filming locations of Apple TV+'s Last Seen

Last Seen

Regional Victoria takes centre stage. That is how VicScreen described Last Seen when the production was announced — and the show has delivered on that promise, filming across some of the state's most visually distinctive communities and landscapes.

Last Seen — Apple TV+'s six-part Australian thriller — stars Patrick Brammall as Ian Ridley, a former police detective turned dispatcher whose life was shattered when his daughter Maggie vanished 11 years ago. When a teenage girl calls his dispatch line and he becomes convinced the voice belongs to Maggie, he stops at nothing to find her.

The series is adapted by Kris Mrksa from Ryan David Jahn's novel The Dispatcher, directed and executive produced by Emmy-nominated filmmaker Christian Schwochow (The Crown, Munich: The Edge of War), and produced by 60Forty Films — whose credits include Slow Horses, Hijack and The Essex Serpent — alongside Werner Film Productions. The ensemble cast includes Maxine Peake, Brendan Cowell, Daniel Henshall, Zahra Newman, Jessica Wren, Tobias Muhafidin and newcomer Chloe Jean Lourdes.

Portland, Warrnambool and The Mornington Peninsula

Filming took place across several Victorian locations, including Portland and Warrnambool — two coastal communities in Victoria's southwest that give the series its regional landscape character.

The Mornington Peninsula — the long landmass south of Melbourne separating Port Phillip Bay from Western Port — also features as a filming location.

The Yarra Valley and Warrock Homestead

Inland, the Yarra Valley — the wine-producing region east of Melbourne, its rolling hills, farmland and river flats providing the green, fertile interior landscape of the series — contributed further location work.

Production reportedly utilised the historic Warrock Homestead near Casterton — a significant heritage property in Victoria's Western District, one of the state's best-preserved 19th-century pastoral stations.

Docklands Studios Melbourne

Studio work was completed at Docklands Studios Melbourne — the purpose-built facility in the city's inner-west that has served as the production infrastructure for dozens of major Australian and international productions. Interior scenes, controlled environment work and technically demanding sequences were housed here.

Last Seen premieres on Apple TV+ on September 9, 2026 — with two episodes — followed by a new episode every Wednesday through October 7.
