Jessica Chastain spotted filming in Atlanta and Nashville: Here's where Heartland was filmed
Heartland
Heartland – Netflix’s new country music thriller from writer-director Shana Feste – is about Nashville's dark site. Jessica Chastain plays Misty Jones, a retired country megastar who reluctantly comes out of seclusion to investigate the disappearance of her niece, and is dragged back into the underbelly of her old hometown.
Written and directed by Shana Feste (Country Strong), produced by Chernin Entertainment and Sandbox Studios under the working title HTLD. Production ran from late September through November 2025 across Atlanta and Nashville.
Jessica Chastain plays Misty. Carter Faith – an actual charting country singer – plays her missing niece Charlie Heart in her acting debut. John Hawkes plays Clark. Garrett Hedlund plays Roy Combs. Jennifer Nettles plays Winnie Jo Lean. Ross Lynch plays Jace. Ben Dickey, Isabelle Kusman, Wynn Everett, Hill Harper and Paul Sparks complete the ensemble.
Primary stage and studio production took place at Shadowbox Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. The facility’s soundstages provided the controlled interior environments that a thriller of this scale requires alongside the extensive location work across Atlanta and Tennessee.
A performance scene for Misty Jones’ niece was filmed at the Tabernacle in Atlanta – the former church transformed into a stylish music venue for the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, now one of the city’s premier concert halls with capacity for up to 2,200 guests.
Filming also took place at the historic Fox Theatre in Atlanta – the 1929 Moorish Revival movie palace on Peachtree Street, one of the most architecturally extraordinary entertainment venues in the American South.

The production captured authentic regional flavour around Nashville. On Broadway – Nashville’s most famous honky tonk strip – scenes were filmed at night in front of The Stage at 412 Broadway.
In November 2025, Jessica Chastain was spotted filming at Layla’s Honky Tonk at 418 Broadway – which had been rebranded as “Roy’s” for filming.
The trailer confirms one of Nashville’s most mythologised venues: a performance filmed inside the Bluebird Café – the intimate songwriter’s listening room in Green Hills where many country singers including Garth Brooks were discovered. The cafe was also used as a filming location for the drama series Nashville, it featured in many episodes.
Heartland is streaming on Netflix from November 13, 2026.
