From Surrey to Valletta: Where Enola Holmes 3 was filmed

Principal photography for Enola Holmes 3 began on April 10, 2025, with filming split between Shepperton Studios in Surrey, England and locations in Malta. Millie Bobby Brown returns as Enola, with Henry Cavill as Sherlock and Helena Bonham Carter as their mother Eudoria. The film premieres on Netflix on July 1, 2026.
Shepperton Studios in Surrey served as the production base for the film's interior London scenes, housing sets for 221B Baker Street and Enola's detective agency on its soundstages. Production officially kicked off here on April 10, 2025.
For exterior Baker Street shots, the production returned to a familiar address. Queen Anne's Gate in London doubled as Baker Street for exterior shots — consistent with how the first two films handled the same location. The real Baker Street, with its tourist crowds and Sherlock Holmes museum, has long since made itself unusable for serious filming. Queen Anne's Gate is quieter, older, and more convincingly Victorian.
Malta
After wrapping the London studio work, the production relocated to Malta for over a month, filming across Valletta, Mdina, Mellieħa, Attard, and Malta Film Studios.
The production's most ambitious Valletta sequence was a chase scene filmed during the Day of the Gostra. The Day of the Gostra is a popular Maltese tradition celebrating the feast of St. Julian, and shooting a chase sequence through Valletta's streets on that day gave the film a living, breathing crowd that no extras budget could replicate.
St. Paul's Metropolitan Cathedral in Mdina — Malta's ancient "Silent City" — served as the backdrop for the wedding scene. The Malta Film Commissioner and Minister for the Arts visited the set in Mdina during the final days of filming.
The dramatic Marfa Ridge in the north of Malta — a stretch of limestone cliffs overlooking the sea — provided some of the film's outdoor sequences.

Off-set, Helena Bonham Carter was spotted visiting Popeye Village in Mellieħa — the colourful 1980 film set built for Robert Altman's Popeye that has since become one of Malta's more eccentric tourist attractions.
