A tent encampment appeared at the corner of California and Battery streets in San Francisco's Financial District on July 10, 2026. Tents across all four sides of the intersection. It was the set for 2034, Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Netflix AI thriller, wrapping its final chapter in San Francisco after months of principal photography in Serbia and Montenegro.
The film stars Rachel McAdams, Jeff Daniels, Joel Edgerton, Caleb McLaughlin and Nnamdi Asomugha, co-written by Gordon-Levitt and Kieran Fitzgerald (Snowden). The production is currently filming its final chapter in San Francisco after principal photography in Serbia and Montenegro from May through July 2026.
Battery Streets
The tent encampment at California and Battery streets in San Francisco's Financial District was the production's most publicly visible location. The intersection was transformed into a tent encampment. The production team aimed for authenticity, which is precisely what fooled people into calling 311. A film set that prompts genuine emergency calls is either a failure of signage or a success of art direction.

Civic Center
Earlier in the week of July 10, Gordon-Levitt was spotted at Civic Center — San Francisco's Beaux-Arts governmental heart square, with the City Hall.
From Belgrade to San Francisco
Principal photography began on May 4, 2026, in Belgrade, Serbia, and Montenegro. The movie's shoot utilized industrial locations in and around Belgrade before moving on to additional filming in Serbia and Montenegro.
