Neagley
Neagley is the first Reacher spinoff, premiering September 16, 2026 on Prime Video with all eight episodes simultaneously. Where Reacher moves from town to town, novel to novel, Neagley stays put. Chicago is her city. And Chicago – for the most part – was filmed in Toronto.
Created by Nick Santora and Nicholas Wootton, the series stars Maria Sten as Frances Neagley – the former Army investigator and Jack Reacher's most trusted colleague, now working as a private investigator in Chicago. When a beloved friend is killed in a suspicious accident, she sets herself on a dangerous path to uncover a menacing evil.
Alan Ritchson returns as Reacher in a guest-starring role. The ensemble includes Greyston Holt, John Bregar, Rebecca Liddiard, Jasper Jones and Adeline Rudolph. Unlike Reacher's previous seasons, which adapted Lee Child's novels, Neagley is entirely original.
Principal photography began in Toronto on February 18, 2025, under the working title Dutch and Knuckles, and wrapped on June 7. Toronto served as the primary production base for the entire season – a long-established choice for American television productions that need to build a US city without the cost and logistical complexity of filming in one.
Toronto's streets, buildings, neighbourhoods and production infrastructure have stood in for Chicago, New York, Boston and dozens of other American cities across decades of television drama. For Neagley, the Ontario capital provided the urban fabric of Neagley's Chicago – her apartment, her office, the streets she works and the environments where the conspiracy she is unravelling plays out.
Co-showrunner Santora and producer Wootton confirmed that unlike Reacher's nomadic structure, they created "a world around her that was not gonna change each season." Toronto, in practice, is that world – the production base for a Chicago that the show intends to return to season after season.

One of the exceptions to the Toronto rule is the most specifically Chicago location imaginable. In May 2025, Maria Sten and Alan Ritchson were filmed together in the stands at Wrigley Field during a real Chicago Cubs game against the Chicago White Sox. Footage of the actors was shared publicly and reported by entertainment and local Chicago outlets. The scene almost certainly involves Neagley – who lives in Chicago and is presumably a Cubs fan – attempting to drag Reacher, a lifelong Yankees fan, to Wrigley Field.
Wrigley Field is one of the most recognisable sports venues in America – its ivy-covered outfield walls, its manually operated scoreboard and its 1914 character making it as much a Chicago landmark as the Bean or the lakefront. For a show that is planting its flag in Chicago for the long term, sending its two leads to Wrigley Field for a real game in the real stadium is the most efficient possible statement of intent.
