Atlanta transformed into 1970s Oakland

Amazon MGM Studios’ upcoming biographical sports drama Madden, directed by David O. Russell, transforms Atlanta into 1970s Oakland. Filming began on April 24, 2025, with the production centered at Shadowbox Studios in Atlanta.
Beyond the studio, scenes were captured at the former Turner Field, now known as Center Parc Stadium, standing in for the iconic Oakland Coliseum. A first-look image, released by the studio, shows Cage and Bale on a football field, each flaunting Super Bowl rings—a clear nod to the Raiders’ 1976 Super Bowl XI victory.
On-set snapshots showcase a meticulously recreated 1970s atmosphere: Bale, in full Al Davis regalia—black leather and flashy rings—wanders the Atlanta streets, while Cage, donning a padded suit and retro tracksuit, embodies John Madden’s larger-than-life persona.
Nicolas Cage turned up at a Marietta hot dog stand in a fat suit. The photos went viral within hours. But Brandi's World Famous Hot Dogs is just one of the Atlanta locations where David O. Russell filmed Madden — the Amazon Prime Video biopic starring Cage as John Madden and Christian Bale as Al Davis, premiering on Thanksgiving 2026. The Oakland Coliseum was actually Center Parc Stadium. The Raiders world was built at Shadowbox Studios. And none of it was filmed anywhere near the Bay Area.
