Atlanta is Savannah: The filming locations behind Apple TV+'s Cape Fear

The show takes place in Savannah, Georgia. Spanish moss, antebellum architecture, the particular humidity of the Deep South — it's all there on screen. But the production was filmed almost entirely across Metro Atlanta, using one Georgia city to convincingly impersonate another.
Principal photography ran from April 30 to October 15, 2025, under the working titles Peaches and Cape. It's a creative solution with a practical logic: Savannah is beautiful but logistically demanding. Atlanta has the infrastructure, the studio space, and one of the most generous film tax incentive structures in the United States.
The production's home base was Assembly Studios at 2582 Assembly Boulevard in Doraville, approximately 25 minutes northeast of downtown Atlanta. Built on the site of a former General Motors plant, the facility spans over one million square feet and includes 22 soundstages, warehouses, and extensive production facilities. The studio housed interior sets for the Bowden family home, the law offices, a hospital, an AA meeting room.
Several of Atlanta's historic neighbourhoods stood in for Savannah's historic districts, most notably Inman Park, Druid Hills, and Little Five Points. Inman Park was used for both the Bowden and Cady homes, while The Wrecking Bar in Little Five Points — a gastropub housed in a historic Victorian building — was transformed into Anna's nonprofit law office headquarters.
Along Elizabeth Street in Inman Park, the production deployed large water rigs to simulate heavy rainstorms. Inman Park shares enough visual DNA with Savannah's historic districts that careful production design and several hundred feet of fake Spanish moss close the gap convincingly.
The High Museum of Art on Peachtree Street also appears in the series.

For scenes requiring open water and geographic isolation, the production travelled to Lake Allatoona in Cherokee County, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains north of Metro Atlanta. The lake is no stranger to television drama — Netflix's Ozark used it for years as Missouri's Lake of the Ozarks.
Stone Mountain Park also features for a funeral sequence.
The production did travel to the actual Savannah for establishing shots and exteriors — specifically River Street, Forsyth Park, and the Historic District.
