The End of Oak Street
Somewhere in suburban Atlanta, a street was dressed for the 1980s to film David Robert Mitchell's The End of Oak Street. Principal photography ran ten weeks across Atlanta, London and New Orleans, with Atlanta providing the suburban realism, London providing the soundstage interiors and the VFX infrastructure to put dinosaurs inside them, and New Orleans finishing the picture.
Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor play the Platt parents, with Maisy Stella and Christian Convery as their children. Principal photography ran ten weeks — from March 22 to June 4, 2024 — across three production hubs in two countries, on an $85 million budget. Then came two years of post-production. Putting convincing dinosaurs on a 1980s American street in IMAX takes that long.
London
London served as the primary production base for the film, especially for interior scenes and technical work. The Platt family home was fully constructed on soundstages, allowing filmmakers to recreate a detailed 1980s American suburban interior.

Atlanta and New Orleans
In April 2024, Atlanta was used to create the exterior look of the fictional Oak Street neighbourhood. The region's suburban areas provided authentic American streetscapes that matched the film's 1980s setting, including tree-lined roads, modest homes, and quiet residential layouts.
Exterior scenes were filmed around Manford Road SW and Erin Avenue SW, on Westwood Avenue and Dover Ct. SW.
Atlanta's suburbs — Decatur, Marietta, Dunwoody, Tucker — have stood in for 1980s America across dozens of productions, from Stranger Things to Ozark. The combination of preserved mid-century housing stock, mature tree coverage and the region's generous Georgia film tax incentive has made it the default address for any production requiring that specific flavour of American suburban past.
New Orleans was used for additional filming and pick-up shots.
Principal photography wrapped in June 2024. The film arrives in cinemas August 2026 — more than two years later. The film experienced a longer post-production phase due to its heavy use of visual effects and IMAX formatting. The film was previously scheduled for May 2025 and March 2026 before its final August date was confirmed.
The End of Oak Street opens in theatres and IMAX on August 14, 2026.
