Where was The Choir filmed? Following James Corden and Ruth Jones around East Sussex

The Choir

They haven't worked together since Gavin & Stacey: The Finale broke records as the UK's most-watched show of 2024. Now James Corden and Ruth Jones are back – writing, starring and executive producing a new eight-episode comedic drama called The Choir for Apple TV+, currently filming in East Sussex under the working title The Village.

The series stars Corden and Jones as estranged siblings Ben and Lisa. Ben has been living abroad. Lisa has stayed behind in their small, sleepy English hometown where nothing exciting ever happens. They haven't seen each other for several years. An unexpected family crisis forces Ben to return – and with him comes everything the two of them left unresolved.

The show has attracted a remarkable calibre of guest stars. Hannah Waddingham, James McAvoy and Jim Broadbent will all appear. The series is produced by Various Artists Limited – the company behind I May Destroy You – together with Jones's company TidyTwo. BAFTA-nominated directors Jennifer Sheridan and Jim Archer direct.

Lewes, East Sussex

The transformation of Lewes High Street was visible and specific. The Oxfam shop on the High Street was converted into a Post Office for filming. The former Lloyds Bank was dressed as a fictional bank. A nearby council building became the Alderswyck Council Office.

Corden was spotted filming when he left Fitzroy House at 10 High Street.

Filming is also scheduled to take place on South Street later in October.

The Choir premieres on Apple TV+ in 2027.
