Where was Highlander filmed? From Eilean Donan Castle to Hong Kong's Peel Street

In February 2026, the production filmed outside the Tower of London — the ancient fortress on the north bank of the Thames. Night shoots took place outside St Paul's Cathedral — on Ludgate Hill.

On March 23, 2026, set photographs of Henry Cavill filming in London were posted to X, showing him in a large black trench coat with a visible scar on his face — confirming that the London shoot extended across multiple weeks and multiple locations within the capital.

After London, production moved to Scotland in April 2026 — returning to the landscapes that defined the original 1986 film and the television series that followed it.

Henry Cavill and Karen Gillan filmed at Eilean Donan Castle — the iconic 13th-century fortification on a tidal island where three sea lochs meet, which featured prominently in the original Highlander as the home of Clan MacLeod. That the reboot returned to the same castle is a deliberate statement of continuity. 

Production then moved to the Isle of Skye — filming around the Trotternish peninsula, including the Old Man of Storr and Bride's Veil waterfall. Raghnall Robertson, director of the Isle of Skye Candle Company, said: "We've had films filmed here before but this one seems like a particularly big one." Locals were keeping their eyes peeled for famous customers, he added.

At Glencoe, Glencoe Mountain Resort confirmed that the film crew would be using its car park from Friday April 25 until Wednesday April 29, with filming set to last around five days. Crowds were kept well away from the action, which was filmed far from the road.

A set was also built along the River Nevis in Fort William. Glen Nevis Estate — one of Scotland's most dramatic filming landscapes, which featured in Braveheart, Rob Roy and the original Highlander in 1986 — once again provided the rugged Highland terrain.

In May 2026, the production moved to Poland — an unexpected but revealing location choice. One of the main filming locations was Łódź Fabryczna railway station, where dynamic scenes featuring Cavill were shot. After Łódź, production moved to Częstochowa, where the industrial interiors of the Huta Częstochowa steel mill were used. In Zabrze, large-scale sets were built and production took place at the modernist St. Joseph's Church. Additional scenes were shot near Łódź Cathedral. 

In mid-August 2026, production arrived in Hong Kong for its Asian chapter. Peel Street and SoHo in the Central District were transformed into a retro-futuristic setting representing the year 2040 — neon signs, hawker stalls and a temporary temple dressing the existing streets into a vision of near-future Hong Kong. Hung Hom Promenade on the Kowloon waterfront was used for outdoor and fireworks sequence shoots.

Chad Stahelski had confirmed Hong Kong as central to the film's present-day action during pre-production, noting the city's ability to place ancient violence and ultra-modern infrastructure in the same frame. The 2040 setting — confirmed by the Peel Street shoot — places Highlander in the near future, giving it a science-fiction dimension that the original 1986 film never explored.
