After 23 years of NCIS franchises set in Washington DC, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Hawaii and Sydney, CBS has finally come to the city that should have been there from the beginning. Production has been actively filming on location across New York City since July 2026 — primarily in Brooklyn, with additional work at Central Park and the Queensboro Bridge.
The new spinoff marks the first time the NCIS franchise has explored a New York City-set story in its 23-year history. LL Cool J reprises his role as legendary NCIS Agent Sam Hanna — returning to his hometown of New York City to lead a new team alongside Scott Caan as roguish agent Nick Schaeffer. The casting is pointed: LL Cool J is himself a Queens native, and R. Scott Gemmill, who wrote the pilot, said he was excited because New York was "the burning center of the universe" and because it was a return home for both Hanna and LL Cool J simultaneously. Jennifer Beals, Jacqueline Byers, Shane Harper and Devin Druid complete the cast. Byron Balasco serves as showrunner.

The official teaser for NCIS: New York opens with Scott Caan and LL Cool J sitting on the hood of their car beneath the Queensboro Bridge — the double-decked cantilever bridge spanning the East River between Midtown Manhattan and Long Island City in Queens.
The first major confirmed location sighting came on July 13, when Gerritsen Avenue in the Gerritsen Beach neighbourhood of south Brooklyn was lined with production trailers. LL Cool J was seen on set carrying a folded American flag while knocking on a door — the universal television shorthand for a death notification scene. Gerritsen Beach is one of Brooklyn's most distinctive and least touristy neighbourhoods: a tight-knit, waterfront working-class community of small homes and narrow streets along the shore of Gerritsen Creek.
On July 17, Shane Harper, LL Cool J, Scott Caan and Jacqueline Byers were all spotted filming together on set in Brooklyn — the first confirmed sighting of the full core cast working together on location. The specific Brooklyn block has not been identified, but the July 17 shoot confirms that the production was moving across multiple Brooklyn locations in its opening weeks.

In August, filming moved to Brooklyn Heights and Brooklyn Bridge Park — the riverside park running along the East River waterfront beneath the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. An image from the production shows filming near Jane's Carousel, the beautifully restored 1922 antique carousel housed in a glass pavilion on the waterfront. Jacqueline Byers and Shane Harper were spotted at what appeared to be a crime scene setup in the park area.
The crew was also spotted filming at Central Park, with Jacqueline Byers and Shane Harper at what appeared to be a crime scene in the park.
