A boardwalk on the Jersey Shore. A motel by the ocean. The streets of a New Jersey suburb. And two actors that nobody saw coming. Trust The Man — Will Graham's Vietnam War spy thriller starring Daniel Radcliffe and Jonathan Groff — filmed quietly across New York and New Jersey over the summer of 2026. Here's where the cameras went.
Trust The Man follows an ambitious Army Intelligence officer during the Vietnam War, assigned to investigate a decorated soldier with a mysterious past. As surveillance and interrogation deepen, the line between loyalty and obsession blurs, leading both men into a dangerous and uncontrollable connection.
Written and directed by Will Graham — Emmy-nominated for Daisy Jones & the Six — the film stars Daniel Radcliffe and Jonathan Groff, with Lucas Hedges also cast. Filming began in June 2026 across New York and New Jersey. Neon International holds foreign sales rights.
On July 9, Jonathan Groff and Daniel Radcliffe were spotted filming in Montclair, New Jersey, with fan footage of the two actors on set circulating widely on social media. Montclair is an Essex County township of around 40,000 people —with older residential neighbourhoods and period-appropriate streetscapes providing exactly what the production needing to travel to the actual 1960s.

The borough council of Seaside Park approved an application by the producers of Trust The Man to film at the Charlroy Motel, along the oceanfront, with filming taking place on end July, 2026. Production crews transformed portions of the boardwalk and beachfront near the Charlroy Motel into a movie set. Filming also took place near The Sawmill and the Decatur Avenue beach area, according to Seaside Park police.
Radcliffe posed for a photograph with local police officers who assisted with security, traffic and crowd control during the production. "Overall, it was a great experience," Seaside Park Police Sgt. Andrew Casole told Jersey Shore Online. "Mr. Radcliffe was very friendly and polite. He signed some autographs and took a few fan photos, and people were appreciative of his time."
Groff and Radcliffe have wrapped filming on Trust The Man. No distributor or release date has yet been confirmed.
