Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, Dakota Fanning walks into this one — undercover, armed with a Treasury badge, and filming across New York City. Gin Joint is an upcoming Apple TV+ thriller series created by Alex Cary — showrunner of Homeland — currently in production in New York City.
It stars Dakota Fanning as an undercover Treasury agent who infiltrates a massive international conglomerate, growing increasingly conflicted about her target — the corrupt corporate heir played by Stellan Skarsgård. Daryl McCormack and Grace Gummer — who joined the production in June 2026 — complete the core cast.
The series has operated under multiple working titles including Ella and Foxglove and has been active since at least early August 2026.
On August 5, the production filmed in Tompkins Square Park in the East Village — specifically on the park's multipurpose courts and surrounding areas. Casting calls sought non-union extras to portray a range of park regulars: a shaved ice vendor, park goers with dogs, people smoking, mothers, men playing ping pong, sunbathers and basketball players. Some of those extras transitioned later in the day to diner patron, bartender and waiter roles. Tompkins Square Park is one of the East Village's most characterful public spaces — its basketball courts, its chess tables, its mix of residents and regulars giving it an authentically neighbourhood-rooted energy that no studio set could replicate.
Production has been actively shooting interior and exterior scenes in Manhattan's Financial District — the logical environment for a story about an undercover Treasury agent infiltrating an international conglomerate.

A casting call sought a four-person jazz quartet with their own instruments for a night shoot in Manhattan on August 20. The musicians were required to bring their own instruments. The specific filming location is not known yet.
The Richmond Hill Community Board confirmed a filming notice for August 12, 2026 — one of the most detailed production documents to emerge from the shoot. An exterior walk-and-talk scene was scheduled with actors on the north-east corner of 86th Avenue and 111th Street in Richmond Hill, Queens, tracked by an E-Car in the curb lane on the south-east side of 111th Street. The logistics were substantial: 80 background actors working all day, 15 picture cars, a wet-down request with a DEP Hydrant Permit, and an MTA bus skip-stop on 111th Street.
Gin Joint is currently filming. No premiere date has been announced.
