Do I need to book in advance?
You don’t need to make a reservation or plan ahead when you go on a MovieWalk. Just pick a walk, download it, and you can start walking right away or whenever you want.
Can I walk it with friends?
Absolutely. You can go for a walk with whoever you want—alone or with friends. Since it’s fun to follow along on your device, it’s best to have multiple devices for larger groups.
Does it work without internet?
Once MovieWalk has been downloaded, the app does not require access to the mobile network. The only requirement is that GPS is enabled; this feature is free to use. However, please note that you will need internet access if you want to use external links.
How long does the walk take?
Our MovieWalks are usually about 3 kilometers long. The duration of the walk depends, of course, on your walking speed and how long you want to stay at each location. But we estimate that it will take about 2 hours.
How long is a MovieWalk valid?
Once you purchase a MovieWalk, you can start it whenever you wish; there’s no time limit. The walk will remain accessible in the app linked to the account you used for the purchase, so even if you switch mobile phones, your MovieWalks will still be available.

This self-guided walking tour takes you through the real Los Angeles – the one behind the backlots. The city that doesn’t just make movies – it plays in them. Where a park bench got a plaque, a tunnel starred in seventy-three car commercials, and a funicular was shut down but filmed anyway.
Start at Pershing Square, where Eddie Murphy shoved bananas into an exhaust pipe to shake off two detectives in Beverly Hills Cop. The gag was so iconic the studio pressured him to repeat it in the 2024 sequel. He refused. Murphy wasn’t even the original lead – Sylvester Stallone walked away two weeks before production. Two days later, Murphy had the part.

Walk to the Millennium Biltmore Hotel, where Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Harold Ramis hunted Slimer through the ballroom in Ghostbusters. The lobby scene was shot in the hotel’s breathtaking main corridor – the same space that hosted the Academy Awards from 1932 to 1942. The production originally wanted the Waldorf Astoria in New York, but it was too small and too expensive. Both hotels, it turned out, were designed by the same architects.
Continue to the Arthur J. Will Memorial Fountain in Grand Park, where Julia Roberts walked along the fountain’s rim with Richard Gere in Pretty Woman – a film that was originally titled $3,000 and written as a dark story about a drug addict. The studio rewrote it. Before Roberts got the role, Laura Dern and Demi Moore were both considered. Roberts got it, and the rest became one of the most quoted rom-coms in history.
