Since August 1, 2025, Glasgow has been at the center of Hollywood magic as filming began for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. For nearly a month, the city’s streets have doubled as New York City, with production transforming familiar landmarks into the backdrop of Peter Parker’s next adventure. What was originally planned to wrap on August 15 has now been extended through August 26, keeping the excitement alive for locals and fans a little longer.
Glasgow’s grand Victorian and Edwardian architecture once again proved its versatility, offering an authentic stand-in for Manhattan’s historic neighborhoods. Over 60 street closures were required to accommodate the massive shoot, with whole sections of the city center transformed into bustling New York streets. Yellow taxi cabs, American street signs, and even NYPD officers on patrol completed the illusion, making it easy to forget you were in Scotland rather than the Big Apple.
Key locations included Bothwell Street, Blythswood Street, and West Campbell Street, which were closed for eight days to allow filming of major sequences. Other prominent roads like Hope Street and Renfield Street also saw closures for several days as the production moved across the city. Onlookers gathered to watch the action, catching glimpses of stunt performers rehearsing daring web-slinging stunts and chase scenes that hinted at the high-octane energy the film will bring to theaters.
With food carts serving up “New York” hot dogs and storefronts dressed to match Manhattan’s iconic look, Glasgow was fully immersed in the world of Spider-Man. For a few weeks in August, the city was more than just a filming location—it became a piece of Marvel’s cinematic universe, setting the stage for an unforgettable chapter in Spider-Man’s story.
